Mayview State Hospital Land Reuse Task ForceOctober 14, 2008 - 7:00 pm OPEN LETTER TO PUBLIC: The next meeting of the Mayview State Hospital Land Reuse Task Force will be held on October 14th at 7:00 pm in the Regional Conference Center/Dietary Building at Mayview. At this meeting, the Task Force will be accepting testimony from the public on the future use of the Mayview property. Individuals who wish to testify can register online at www.mayviewlandreusetaskforce.com/contact.htm or call Briana Mihok at Senator Pippy’s Moon Township office at 412-262-2260. Testimony should be limited to two typed double spaced pages. If you wish to submit your testimony in writing in lieu of speaking at the meeting, you are welcome to do so and your comments will be distributed to all members of the Task Force and become a part of the official record. At the hearing, testifiers will be asked to give their names, addresses, and any organizational affiliations prior to speaking, as is customary at legislative hearings. In addition, while both Senator Pippy and Representative Kotik have indicated their support for legislation that would dedicate the proceeds from the sale of the Mayview property to community-based mental health services, only the General Assembly as a whole, and not the Task Force, has the power to implement that proposal. In light of this, the Task Force respectfully requests that testifiers offer comments that directly relate to the mission of Task Force, which is formally to recommend an appropriate future use for the Mayview property that would benefit the surrounding communities and the region as a whole.
